Privacy Policy
Personal Black Book ("the app", "we", "us") is an iPhone app that helps you keep a private list of the things you own, the people and places you lend them to, and how many each one has right now. This policy explains what information the app stores, why, and the choices you have.
Information we store
- Account information: your email address and password (passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us), and the name you choose to show in the app.
- Your items: the names, quantities and notes you enter for the things you own.
- People and places: the names you enter and, if you choose to add them, a phone number, email address, street address and notes for each person or place.
- Loans: which items each person or place has, how many, and when you last changed it.
- Purchase status: whether you have bought the one-time unlock. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your card or payment details.
The app does not use your camera, photos, contacts, location or microphone, and it does not collect advertising identifiers or usage analytics.
Information about other people
When you add a person to the app, you may be entering information about someone else, such as their name or phone number. Only add details you have a reasonable right to keep for your own personal use. This information is stored only in your private account; we don't contact these people or use their information for any other purpose.
How we use information
- To let you sign in and keep your list in sync on your devices.
- To show you your items, people, places and what each one has.
- To confirm and restore your one-time purchase.
- To answer you if you contact us for support.
We do not sell or rent your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
Service providers
The app relies on a few providers to work. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) stores your account and your list. Data is stored in the United States.
- Apple processes the in-app purchase and your payment.
- RevenueCat checks and restores your purchase status using an anonymous app user ID linked to your account.
- Apple Maps opens if you tap an address you saved; the address is passed to Apple Maps only when you tap it.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections. Database security rules allow only you, while signed in to your account, to read or change your list. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can edit or remove any item, person or place at any time. To delete everything, open Profile → Delete Account in the app; this permanently deletes your account, your list and all related records. Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
Your one-time purchase is tied to your Apple ID, so you can restore it on a new account with Restore Purchases.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, or to object to how it is used. You can do most of this directly in the app. For anything else, contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will let you know in the app before it takes effect.
